Chrissy Elton is an Area Director with Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota's Meals Program, where she provides leadership for programs that support older adults and strengthen community connections across 22 counties in Minnesota. With more than 25 years of experience in senior services, team leadership, workforce development, and program growth, she is passionate about creating innovative solutions that enhance quality of life for older adults. She is equally committed to coaching, training, and empowering staff to expand services and increase community impact.
Prior to joining Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota, Chrissy spent many years leading assisted living communities with a focus on dementia care. She has been actively involved in Alzheimer's and dementia initiatives, serving as a volunteer coordinator for the Walk to End Alzheimer's and supporting regional dementia awareness efforts and caregiver support groups.
Chrissy is dedicated to building high-performing teams through leadership development, employee engagement, and a positive workplace culture. She continues to broaden her expertise through ongoing learning in volunteer engagement, food security, fundraising, advocacy, and community collaboration.
In addition, Chrissy has served as a grant reviewer for the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS), providing her with valuable insight into the challenges and opportunities facing nonprofit organizations. This experience has deepened her understanding of efforts to expand service capacity among Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) providers, particularly those serving rural and underserved communities throughout Minnesota.
Why do you feel you would make a valuable addition to the MCN board?
I believe I would be a valuable addition to the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits Board because my career has been centered on strengthening communities, supporting mission-driven organizations, and helping people thrive. As an Area Director serving 22 counties across Minnesota, I have developed a deep understanding of both the opportunities and challenges facing nonprofit organizations, particularly in rural and underserved areas. I am passionate about building meaningful partnerships, creating environments of trust, and ensuring that services remain accessible and responsive to community needs.
MCN's commitment to community, trust, learning, and a more equitable future strongly aligns with my personal and professional values. I bring a collaborative leadership style, a willingness to listen, and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement. I would be honored to contribute my operational experience, strategic perspective, and dedication to nonprofit excellence to help MCN continue advancing and strengthening Minnesota's nonprofit sector for the benefit of the communities we serve.
