Bio
Katie Blue is the Executive Director of the Recovery Community Network (RCN), a Recovery Community Organization (RCO) serving the St. Cloud area. A retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel and Certified Peer Recovery Specialist, she leads RCN’s peer support, education, and advocacy work. Katie is Vice-Chair of the MARATP Ethics Committee and a member of the Minnesota DHS Behavioral Health Planning Council. She holds a master’s degree in computer science and is a member of the Minnesota Chapter of the Project Management Institute. Her work brings together treatment providers, courts, housing partners, and community organizations to expand access to recovery support.
Why do you feel you would make a valuable addition to the MCN board?
At Recovery Community Network, I’ve seen what becomes possible when nonprofits build strong relationships with the people they serve and the partners around them. Earning MARCO certification and building relationships with the Initiative Foundation, Morgan Family Foundation, Central Minnesota Community Foundation, and private donors have helped us grow as an organization. That trust comes with a responsibility to use public and private funds carefully and account for the results.
I would bring that experience to the MCN board, along with an understanding of what it takes to meet urgent needs, support staff, and sustain a mission. I want MCN to be a strong advocate and a practical resource for nonprofits across Minnesota. That starts with listening to members and making sure smaller organizations and those outside the Twin Cities have a voice.
I would be honored to help MCN strengthen the relationships and trust that allow nonprofits to serve their communities well.
