Vice President of Resident Connections & Supportive Services
Aeon is a nonprofit developer, owner and manager of high-quality affordable apartments and townhomes which serve more than 5,000 individuals in the Twin Cities area. With a vision that every person has a home and is interconnected within community, Aeon’s mission is to create and sustain quality affordable homes that strengthen lives and communities. We believe home is the foundation that makes all else possible.
As Vice President of Resident Connections and Supportive Services for Aeon, Scott oversees service level and quality for more than 5,000 residents living in Aeon properties; develops, plans and implements system-wide programs; and ensures strong partnerships with city and county social service agencies and other nonprofits to bring additional services to Aeon residents, among other responsibilities.
Prior to Aeon, Scott worked as Executive Director of Family and Community Engagement with the Minneapolis Public Schools, and held other leadership and community engagement positions with the University of Minnesota, Anoka Technical College, Northwest Suburban Integration School District and Learning Center Elementary School. Scott holds a MS in Education Administration from St. Cloud State University and a BS in Urban Studies from the University of Minnesota. Scott has a number of professional affiliations and community leadership roles with organizations such as African Health Action Corp, Black Educators of Tomorrow, Minneapolis Youth Council Board, Minneapolis Workforce Development Board, Minnesota Minority Education Partnership and National Association of Minority Educators, among others.
According to Scott, “I have run into a wide variety of challenges in my 25 years working in the nonprofit sector. These hurdles have helped me become a more creative and open-minded leader. My greatest strength is building bridges in a culturally responsive way. In my work, I’ve consistently brought together private and public organizations to better serve our community. I’ve also worked directly with diverse populations, helping me better understand and share their needs with those who might not have the same awareness.
Many nonprofits today struggle to find support from their community and peers within the industry. My experience bringing organizations, businesses and individuals together to accomplish goals will be valuable to the board of directors, who wish to help all Minnesota nonprofits achieve their missions.”
